PRODUCT OVERVIEW

More than glass.
A complete insulating assembly.

An insulating glass unit combines two or more panes separated by a sealed cavity. The glass substrates, Low-E coatings, spacer options and gas-filled cavity work together to manage heat transfer.

Start with the project’s thermal, optical & acoustic targets, then choose the composition, substrates and fabrication details that suit the façade.

KEY BENEFITS

Comfort and clarity, working together.

01

Thermal comfort

A sealed cavity and appropriate Low-E coatings help limit heat transfer and support comfortable interior conditions.

02

Solar & daylight balance

Select a coating around visible light transmittance, SHGC and the intended exterior appearance.

03

Flexible assemblies

Combine glass thicknesses, heat treatment, laminated panes and. printing patterns to address the needs of the application.

04

Edge performance

Spacer and seal design are part of the overall thermal performance and durability of the unit.

CHOOSE YOUR CONFIGURATION

The right make-up for your project.

Explore three common assembly types. Final pane thicknesses, cavity widths and coating locations are determined for the specified application.

01 / DOUBLE GLAZING

Double Insulating Glass

Two panes with one sealed cavity. A practical starting point for balancing insulation, daylight, weight and overall thickness.

02 / TRIPLE GLAZING

Triple Insulating Glass

Three panes with two sealed cavities. An additional cavity and selected coatings can support more demanding thermal targets.

03 / LAMINATED ASSEMBLY

Laminated Insulating Glass

An insulating assembly incorporating a laminated pane. Interlayer and glass selection can address acoustic or safety requirements.

INSIDE THE UNIT

Every component has a role.

A coordinated assembly starts with the glass and continues through the cavity, spacer and perimeter seals.

3 Glass · 2 Sealed Cavities

Glass Panes & Low-E Coatings

Substrate, thickness, heat treatment and coating selection shape the optical and thermal characteristics of the assembly.

Sealed Cavity & Gas Fill

The cavity separates the panes. Its width and fill are selected alongside the glass configuration and performance targets.

Spacer & Butyl

The spacer maintains pane separation; the butyl helps control trace moisture within the sealed cavity.

Structural Silicone

Silicone help preserve the cavity and support the integrity of the insulating glass unit.

LOW-E + IGU

PERFORMANCE & SPECIFICATION

Specify the complete glass make-up

U-Value / U-Factor

Measures heat transfer through the glazing. A lower value indicates better insulation under the stated calculation or test conditions.

Visible Light Transmittance (VLT)

The proportion of visible light transmitted through the assembly. Review it alongside daylight needs and façade appearance.

Solar Heat Gain (SHGC)

The proportion of incident solar energy entering through the glazing. Select a target around climate, orientation and cooling needs.

Visible Light Reflectance

The proportion of visible light reflected by the glazing. Review exterior and interior values when assessing appearance.

DESIGN & FABRICATION

Build around the architectural intent.

01 / SUBSTRATES

Glass Selection

Clear, low-iron or tinted substrates; glass thicknesses and heat treatment selected for the application.

02 / VISUAL OPTIONS

Appearance & Pattern

Color, reflectance, and transparency. Discuss ceramic print, digital print or bird-friendly patterns with the selected make-up.

03 / PROJECT DETAILING

Shape & Integration

Review sizes, shapes, edge details and installation requirements with the framing and façade design.
